Relaxing resort!

Olivia G on Dec 21, 2024

We had a lovely vacation at secrets. Beautiful location that looks just like the pictures. We enjoyed time next to the louder pool and the service was excellent. Good music, good company. This resort had a good variety of drinks and restaurants. The buffet was wonderful for breakfast. The coffee at the cafe was also INCREDIBLE!! The beach is quaint and it has too many people trying to constantly sell you stuff. don’t get trapped by the time share people. we enjoyed yoga in the morning at the relaxation pool and in the evening you must do the “hike” to watch the sunset. It is very short, pretty hard, but very much worth it. The resort is quite expansive but they have a lovely transportation system. Great place to stay for a relaxing vacation with staff that are lovely and helpful. they also have great wifi for connection.

Lovely place but disappointed.

jloftnels (Minneapolis, Minnesota) on Dec 21, 2024

The location of the Secrets Resort is 5-star. Absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the resort is only 3.5 stars, at best. The drinks are watered down and the food was mediocre. Very disappointing considering the variety of dining options. The rooms are spacious but the A/C beeps every time it cycles on and off...throughout the night. Do not stay by the "party" pool unless you want to hear music blaring until 11:30 p.m. The resort staff, however, was very good. Our best experiences occurred when we were away on excursions. The excursions were done through a company called Amstar that has an office at the resort. They were exceptional.

Underwelmed

We checked out a week ago, and had a laundry bill for nearly 500 dollars ! 3 loads, when asking for a receipt,we were told it would be emailed, why not printed there, begs the question, have emailed the hotel, and Hyatt, no response at all, very strange, still don’t know the breakdown . Not a premium resort at all, occasionally served drinks in the evening with crumpling disposable cups ! Buffet restaurant under staffed, and closed twice without notice, the hotel says no restaurant booking required , only sit inside if your a “preferred” member, We came here to celebrate our 60th birthdays, wanted the tapenaki experience , told we couldn’t book it as we weren’t preferred members, after complaining eventually got it, shouldn’t have to do this on holiday Staff make this resort,

Amazing getaway!!

Michaela B on Dec 20, 2024

A absolutely Beautiful place built into the natural mountain and coast line, with excellent staff and service across the board, and very accommodating!! Amazing food choices and all delicious restaurants to enjoy all day and night. I wish they would add more lounge chairs by the pool area because there were never enough but the pools were so clean and refreshing so you could enjoy sitting on the sides too. This was such a great all inclusive experience and we would certainly go back and even do more excursions!

First All-Inclusive experience

Alma M on Dec 20, 2024

This was our first all-inclusive vacation, and Secrets Papagayo absolutely made it an amazing experience. The location is spread out, with little bungalows and rooms clustered in groups, but isolated enough that we always felt secluded. It is rather hilly, so if you're planning on walking, make sure you bring good shoes. However, the shuttle service is prompt and courteous, so walking between rooms and amenities is not the only option. The food was good, not exceptional. I feel like it was a little toned down spice-wise, but it makes sense that not everyone has the same tastes, and they make it so everyone can enjoy it. Portofino (Italian) was very good, Himitsu (Pan-Asian) was very good, and the Market Cafe (buffet) was consistently good. The only restaurant we didn't really care for was the Seaside Grill, it's the only one we didn't visit more than once. Special shout out to the Teppanyaki table at Himitsu (which requires a same-day reservation). The staff was a definite highlight of our trip. Everyone was very kind, willing to help, and welcoming. Special shout out to Allison, she was so much fun getting people set up for activities and she made us feel like we were always welcome and wanted. Carolina at the Himitsu Teppanyaki table was amazingly fun, and made that experience so worthwhile. And William makes the best smoked Old Fashioned I've ever had, he puts in great effort and care to cater to his guests. All told, we had a great experience, and will definitely be back!
