Don’t book this hotel this is a disaster

Upon arrival we already saw a lot of people complaining in the check in and guest in the hotel also had a lot of complaints. I should had run away at that moment. We received our room it was on the 2nd floor very inconvenient with a small kid. I asked another room on the 1st floor what was no problem next day. Ok so i came back and asked to upgrade us for 40 dollar per night. Yes no problem but come back tomorow morning. We arrived the next morning 09:30 as bespoken. No room ready but he will call us max 1:30 and we could change. 1:30 no phone so 3:00 I decided to visit the reception. No the room isnt cleaned yet but you said yesterday in the morning its ready then 1:30 and now 3:00 still not ready. Please come back 4:00 I said what?? We are waiting since this afternoon with our stuff packed and again not ready. give us 20 minutes then within 5 minutes come back at 5:00. Then eventually at 5:30 I got my upgraded room. Specially all I didn’t asked for. I asked 1 big bed on ground floor what I got 2 beds on 1st floor. The staff in the reception is just arrogant and laughing me out!! The staff in the rest of the hot isnt nice also, only cleaning staff is very friendly. My tip dont book this hotel we were before this hotel 1 week in Bahia Principe, same price but 1000x better. Safe your family a pleaant holiday dont go here!!

I will start with the positives....Food was very good, the drinks at the bar were yummy and served in a nice glass . The beach was beautiful, nice and quiet. The circus night was very good I would give that a five star. Negatives... were not enough wine selection (only Chardonnay) The disco was completely in Spanish and very few English speaking people at the resort!!! Check in very slow. Left the line up and came back. There was no rep in sight the whole time we were there so if you are not a frequent traveler it would be very stressful for you. Five days was enough there.

First time visiting the Catalonia Punta Cana and I feel very welcome the staff very friendly and amazing the room was very clean and comfortable I was able to visit the Italy and Spain restaurant excellent definitely l will coming back to visit the steak house next time definitely you honor your branding thank you till next time

Amazing service

Kenia in the tropical restaurant was the highlight of breakfast! She was very kind and funny! We looked forward to seeing her every morning. As an Exclusive Travel Club members we were blessed with the best concierge’s Felix and Francisco! If we needed anything they would not hesitate to assist with a smile! I can’t wait to visit again!

Overall the Catalonia feels rather run down in places especially the rooms, in dire need of some maintenance. Neither the hotel of our operator (TUI) bothered to tell us that the hotel next door (Catalonia Royal) is under going construction works which means their guests use the facilities here. The pool and restaurants are overcrowded and understaffed. Long wait times for drinks and even to get something to eat. The pool area is served by single bar which gets very busy and the whole area is dirty and needs a good clean. The so-called animation team play very loud music right by pool for hours, so do not expect a relaxing time No hot water in room for most of our stay and staff indifferent. Eventually offered us to change room 2 days before we we due to leave. BUT when they sent a gift of a fruit plate to the room, their staff stole a usb charger. As expected, staff again indifferent and now back home and getting no response from hotel about their investigation into this. Overall, if you intend to visit this area, look elsewhere- you can do so much better!
