Go somewhere else for cheaper

1 star for service and cleanliness. Over priced for the quality and service they give. Cockroaches in the main Buffet. Spent over 2k on a party for them to treat us like garbage. Wouldn’t recommend any Royalton. Everything is over priced and they gouge you at every corner for more money.

Vacationer beware!

Trip30118221200 on Aug 24, 2024

Vacationers beware! We just returned home from our stay at Royalton Bavaro we were there for 6 days. The food is mediocre at best and we have stayed at many resorts in Punta Cana. The buffet was trashed the first night, the staff was unwilling to even get you a beverage. I walked out of the buffet and across to a bar to get sodas for our group of 4. Reservations are required for any other restaurant on the property and can only be made through the app. At one meal we asked to be seated outside as the evening was very breezy only to be told we would have to purchase a bottle of wine to sit outside. The room was ok, our tub did not have a stopper, the wood had water damage in our bathroom, we went six days without washcloths to bathe and the door had a large gap on the side and bottom so we had to barricade the door at night to avoid getting bit by mosquitoes every night, which I did. The concierge called at 8 am to invite us to a breakfast to pay for the diamond club, when we said we were not interested they came by and hounded us about us not going and them not getting their commission. We had heard from other guests that safes had been broken into and items taken from the safes, of course we immediately checked and we were good but we got home and found they had stolen multiple items of my husband’s clothing, like really who does this. We also had to find bar servers who would deliver drinks to our swim out suite because we were told only the diamond club swim outs got services. Shout out to Fray we are so glad you served us drinks all week and for serving building 14. And to Jose the was at the grill and Japanese restaurant. These are the only ones who went above and beyond. Check in and out was fine. Be mindful of your belongings and use caution what you leave out.

Kelvin is the greatest.

Daniel G on Aug 24, 2024

We had a really good time for our honeymoon at Royalton Bavaro. We upgraded to Diamond club upon checking in and was introduced to Kelvin who was our butler for our stay. Kelvin is an absolute legend. He took care of all of our needs and ensured we had everything we needed. He even decorated our room when he found out it was our honeymoon. The resort overall is great and we enjoyed ourselves. There was always space in the pools, staff were polite and not tip hungry like some other places we’ve stayed. My only dislike was the lack of air con in the waiting areas of the on site restaurants & the flies in the diamond club dining room @ Oceanside but where it’s open air I guess it’s difficult to manage. Planning to go back next year with our elder children. Would recommend.

In need of a refresh

Having read the mixed reviews before travelling we weren’t expecting 5star grand luxury. However what we experienced would be more in keeping with a mediocre 3 star experience! Overall the hotel is in a general state of disrepair. This is particularly evident in the rooms where our fan was broken, the air con control temperamental, the wardrobe and cupboard doors falling apart. The room was damp with spots of mould on the sofa and rust leaching from anything metal onto the floor. If the air con wasn’t at 16degrees the amount of condensation inside made the entire floor slippy, which was incredibly dangerous for small children. Common areas are the same with broken tables/chairs in restaurants and broken pool tiles. We also encountered broken glass in the reception area on multiple mornings with staff acting generally inconvenienced when alerted to this. Service in the hotel is pretty hit and miss (mostly miss!). Check in was completely chaotic. The gentleman checking us didn’t even utter so much as a hello, before taking our passports, attaching a wrist band with rusty metal pliers to us and ushering us away without even telling us our room number, what would happen with luggage or a general orientation of the hotel/at least where a map is! We had emailed the hotel pre arrival to arrange a transfer and request a cot and received no reply. Unsurprisingly there was no cot in the room on arrival! Our minibar wasn’t restocked meaning we had to ask for bottled water daily and the majority of “concierge” were only bothered in getting you to go to the timeshare presentation. Food offerings were mediocre and a very limited choice for lunch with the grill and buffet only. Both of these had large queues and generally felt like being in a school canteen. The lack of air conditioning in all restaurants and common areas makes it generally uncomfortable in august and is something I’ve never encountered in hotels in other tropical destinations including elsewhere in the DR! Despite being a “family hotel”, it often appeared full of very large and loud groups with limited respect for other guests. On one occasion guests were screaming and shouting outside our room in the corridor and when my husband politely asked them to be quiet as our baby was sleeping the hotel management then called us to ask why we had asked them to be quiet. Which I think speaks volumes for the overall attitude of fellow guests and management! My flip flops were also presumably taken by another guest as were left by the pool and had disappeared on getting out, never to be seen again! On the plus side some staff were amazing particularly with our toddler (especially Elaine in scoops!) and the childrens pool and lazy river were good. However despite being cleaned in the mornings by the end of the day the river would be filthy with spilled drinks, cups and general detritus! Overall the hotel was lacking compared to similar offerings in the carribean such as secrets/dreams. Would I return to the property? Absolutely not. Has it put me off trying other royalton hotels…yes.

The experience my family had was incredible! We travel with a group of 9 which included 4 children. And let me tell you we had the best vacation at this resort. From the food, meeting new people and the entertainment it was great! Everyone made sure we had everything, rooms were clean, food was great!
