we have been going here for 17 years and are going back in January have not been here for 9 years now , we always have a great time here , wish i knew if Isa and Ernesto were still there , they were great with everyone , very accommodating , pool sports , archery were great

It's our first time to visit Cuba. Before we arrived, we read many reviews about Blau. We decided to try this resort and are happy with our first experience. The staff are very nice especially the coffee shop and animation team. The room is dated, but very clean. Other area is well maintained. Check in time is 4pm. Our flight arrived in the morning. We didn't get wifi until the room is ready. Wifi works fine in our room and public area. Food is ok although limited variety. There are two guys cooking eggs and pancake every morning. Not too many veggies for salad. Fruits are mainly papaya, gurava and pineapple. Occasionally we saw bananas. During lunch time, in front of swimming pool, there's a booth for hamburger. They were good even though without ketchup or other saurce. I suggest the opening hours of the coffee shop to be 6:45am. As on our departure day, our flight was at 10:55am, but the bus arrived just before 7am, we were rush to grab coffee and crossiant to eat in the bus. The workers already started working in coffee shop around 6:30am. Why can get start serving guests a bit earlier? Overall, we had a good time staying in Blau Varadero.

In my opinion a lot of the reviews on this hotel are fake. They all seem to say the same thing, great animation team, staff wonderful, etc. The staff are pleasant, I'm not so sure about the animation team as I don't think we fitted into their demographic, plump, older and English! We did get asked one day if we wanted to play the 'plain paper game' ... Turns out it was taking turns to make and throw a paper plane! Who knew! Our cleaner was fabulous (isis) Yes, beach lovely, apart from the lookie lookie men trying to sell cigs etc. The mobile pina colada man was excellent tho. Drinks are OK at best, all served in tiny plastic cups (we took our own cool cups). The plastic waste is atrocious. If they've made some cola then you're ok, it's their own brand of full sugar cola and orangeade. Hotel is clean but extremely tatty and dated. Best meal was always lunch for some reason. A fairly good selection (nothing like you read on here tho) no fries, no burgers, no salad (in the British sense) lots of lamb... (goat), lots of chicken (turkey) all on the bone. For a British palate the food was poor and we're not fussy eaters. Pasta man at lunch was excellent. Breakfast and evening meal are not even worth commenting on. Put it this way, we had our first egg on the 10th day of our break. We are fully aware of the issues in Cuba, with food and other shortages and it's OK for the other nationalities that don't have to travel far and get drunk for a few days and fly home, but we had to travel for 15 hours, spent a lot of money and really feel misold. I could write for hours but I won't. Shame, they are trying with what they have, but for the type of holiday we expected (from these rubbish reviews) we were disappointed.

Very nice place, very nice people, the beach was one of the best I have seen, fantastic animation team, music bands and specially the singer at the piano bar was amazing. Food was good, we weren't expecting much but we've been pleasantly surprised . We will definitely come back .

A lovely place to celebrate a special birthday with romance. The animation team was excellent. There were so many different activities that they presented and each one of them was so friendly and accommodating. A special mention to Yeidy and Ale. And Imanol.
