Great Family Trip in April

Resort was very nice. As mentioned in other reviews, the older portion of resort could use updating which I believe will be done within the next year. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was fresh a...nd drinks were great. Pool and views were excellent. All staff was friendly and helpful.
Excellent with a few things to work out.

The initial room we booked was pretty shabby and sad, with broken glass blocks. The room we upgraded to was amazing. Beautiful room. It is worth upgrading. The older part needs to be renovated. The fridge... broke but they brought a new one. It took a few days, which was kind of annoying, but we got a new one. The whole place was beautiful. The food and drinks were very good. We really enjoyed the bar area. The snacks at the bar were very good, especially the panini. Staff there were very friendly and hard working. My girlfriend wishes there was more grab-and-go food. The meals were all very good, however, with a lot of selections. Staff there were very nice and proud of their work. Sushi was hit or miss a few times but generally good. Desserts could improve - some were pretty dry or dull. There was a good selection, with ice cream and fresh fruit. You had a few people who came by once and never came by again. We went and got our own water refills on those days and no additional drinks. That could improve. Our main complaint is that there sometimes seems to be no one in charge. There are a lot of young staff that seem unsupervised. This is most true at the front desk and dive shop. They sometimes lacked manners: giggling, flirting, laughing at my girlfriend when she was locked out, making you wait while they chat, and so on. A few of the staff at the dive shop were rude and made you wait. They seemed annoyed to deal with you. They talked with each other for long periods while we stood there. It is a beautiful place and we felt we were in a great spot on the island. The boutique is very nice. They could sell a few more essentials at the hotel though - sunscreen, etc. I would recommend coming here if going to Bonaire with these caveats. If we come back to Bonaire, we would come here again.
Beautifully renovated, comfortable and quiet resort

Wonderful newly renovated (most of it) resort! Comfortable beds, large rooms, gorgeous restaurant/ lobby/pool/bar. Upscale decor. Beach is suitable for those who enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving. It is co...ral and sand mix so bring your water shoes. Lots to see in the water. I wouldn't recommend the beach for small children but the pool is suitable for them. Everything is very close from your rooms. Very close to town, 15 minute walk or rent a golf cart and drive the island. Beautiful, relaxing and very safe! Not much in the way of night entertainment except for the dinnertime music for a few hours but it was really good music. We enjoyed our 8 days of beautiful hot weather. This is a quiet resort! Highly recommend!
Overall A Very Nice Place to Stay in Bonaire

The newly renovated areas like the main lobby, restaurant area, main pool are and suites next to the Beso Bar (infinity pool at Beso Bar is awesome), and a few suites in the older section are beautiful. We... stayed in a junior suite overlooking the Marina in the older section of the resort. We knew this beforehand so it was not a surprise and our room was perfect for our stay. The suite was large and comfortable with a nice balcony. Housekeeping did an exceptional job cleaning each day. The hotel is very close to the Airport (5 minutes) and under 10 minutes to Krelendijk. Taxis are rather expensive on Bonaire and the trip cost was $18.75 from the airport. Taxis on Bonaire have a fixed price set by zone so even a very short trip can be expensive. Overall, The Plaza Resort was very clean and will be exceptionally beautiful once the rest of the renovations are complete. The food was good but not very good or exceptional. Breakfast was almost the same options every day (we stayed 7 nights) and the selection of fresh fruit was limited to just a few options. Being so close to Columbia, I would have hoped for a better variety of tropical fruits not just pineapple, apples, banana and watermelon every morning. The salad options for lunch and dinner were very good but what was offered was a bit strange. For example, there were 2 times they had no lettuce but had everything else to make a salad and other times they had lettuce but no cucumbers, olives and tomatoes to make a proper salad. Dinner also lacked variety. I like falafel but not 3 straight days of it. Every night you had the same steak and grilled tuna. Every night they would have a few other options that changed daily so I always was able to enjoy my meal. The housekeeping, Bar and restaurant staff were excellent. I never had to wait for a drink and the restaurant staff always were fast with drinks and clean off your table. The staff mainly speaks Dutch/English and Spanish. I speak English and Spanish so I had no problems. I would say 95% of the guests were Dutch whom I had several really interesting conversations with. There is a car rental company (the best way to explore the island) on the resort that had reasonable prices. The resort also allows you to use snorkel equipment for free and the snorkeling right in front of the hotel is pretty good with sea turtles, a moray eel and many fish. The only real complaint is that it did not appear that the resort had any designated smoking section. It was not good to be at the pool with someone smoking a few chairs down or having dinner with someone smoking nearby. I never saw anyone smoke inside the restaurant but it is all open air and smokers would be right next to us eating. That being said, The Plaza Resort is a great choice for a stay on Bonaire and don't miss the Donkey Sanctuary a few minutes away!!
Awesome experience.

The dive crew was exceptional and very helpful. Diving was amazing and easy to do from boat or shore. Hotel food was fantastic and grounds were stunning. Rooms were nice but are a little dated however t...hey are slowly being updated. We will definitely come again.
