BEWARE!! You will NOT get The worst resort in 10 years. Very nice service however you will NOT get more than one nice restaurant dinner reservation when you stay for a week in the maya which is the top pri...ce. You also will not get a pool chair as they are all covered with towels by 7:00 am with nobody there. No mgr. at the pool enforcing the no hold chair policy placard. I will never be fooled by Iberostar again.

This resort is beautiful and has amazing views. The grounds are very well kept. The beach is well kept. The red flag was out the entire time as the waves are enormous. We did still go in but not far out. T...he golf course is well groomed and beautiful also. The staff all over the resort are all very nice and polite. Edgar with the pool entertainment crew was our fave. The pool floor needs a good clean and a sand as it’s sharp. The rooms could use a deep clean, otherwise they are great. Spacious and cool. We found the food hit and miss but everyone’s palates are different. There is something for everyone at the buffet. The hibachi restaurant was fabulous and is the only restaurant that you need to make a reservation for. No, long pants and close toed shoes required for men either. We had 7 people in our party,5 adults and 2 teenagers. Everyone enjoyed themselves
Beautiful first trip to Mexico

My husband and I recently had our first vacation with a destination in Mexico and chose Iberostar Selection Cancun Mar 20-27. Your hotel chain was selected because it was beachfront and has a high standar...d of customer service . We were warmly welcomed at checkin by Michele from the club. Michele offered us information sessions about the club and remained a constant pleasant face with friendly conversation and hotel offerings during our stay. Our food experiences exceeded expectations. We ate often at the buffet. "I loved the morning time chocolate pancakes with a little strawberry yogurt and jam". The freshly cooked salmon, pizzas, large selection of desserts and flavoured ice cream were a few of our favorites. The Mexican Restaurant had fantastic "smash burgers" at lunch time with all the fixings available. We ate at the American Bistro one evening and enjoyed it thoroughly with a beautiful view via the seating we were provided. While you have a large and varied staff who perform tremendously in the temperature extremes, there are a few staff from your buffet that we wish to acknowledge … Yamiel was the familiar pleasant face who greeted us most often and found us a place. Waiters Tomas, Bryan, and Fidel offered quick, gentle service with a smile. One day we were greeted at our table by Daniel who inquired regarding the quality of food we were experiencing, and asked us to let him know if there was any issue. I was pleased by his concern to inquire about our experience. Alejandro was the person who checked with us frequently to remind us of activity offerings occurring. And…the sun and beach were great !!??
Far from Luxury, 3 star hotel that paid to be rated 5 star
Marie R (Hollywood, FL) on Mar 23, 2025
There is absolutely no way this is a 5-star hotel. If they have that rating, they must have paid for it because, at best, it’s a 3.5. The food is terrible, the building is outdated, and the spa service was... the worst I’ve ever experienced. The spa refused to let me enter with my small wheeled bag, yet minutes later, they allowed another guest in with a larger bag—simply because mine had wheels and was considered a “suitcase.” When I asked if I could bring in a giant non-wheeled bag instead, they said yes. Make it make sense. I explained that all my toiletries were inside my bag and asked if they seriously expected me to carry everything in my hands. Their solution? They dug into the trash bin and handed me a used bag with crumpled-up paper still inside. This is their idea of a “luxury” experience? At that point, I asked to speak to a manager—only to be told there wasn’t one. I had to go all the way to the front desk to complain. The customer service rep, Ricardo, admitted that what happened was unacceptable, yet no action was taken. No apology gift, no compensation, nothing to make up for the absolute disrespect of handing a guest trash to carry their belongings. This place is a joke. I will never stay here again, nor will I ever book with Iberostar in the future. If you’re looking for a real 5-star experience, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
