We have stayed at the W Fort Lauderdale a number of times and have always enjoyed our time here. It had been a few years since we were here last and sadly, this visit was disappointing. The hotel staff was... great, when you could reach them, but the hotel itself seemed tired. Outlets/usb in the room not working, fridge didn’t work, lights out, musty smell, elevators slow, elevator lights not working, and the sound bar in the room broken as well. Reaching the front desk, housekeeping, or the valet service via the room phone led to an endless telephony loop that ultimately sent you to global reservations which was frustrating to say the least. Again, basic stuff but for an ocean view room at $650 a night, you’d expect things to work.
Not worth the money, not a family hotel.

Absolutely not worth the money, and not a family hotel. The pool was overcrowded and most days we had to share 1 chair between the 4 of us. The bar staff aren't the friendliest of people either. And fo...rget getting chairs or an umbrella on the beach if you get there after 9:30am - people are lining up by 830am. Also, they give your chairs/umbrella away if you're gone for 20-30 minutes, with no warning (I found out because we went to get lunch with the kids, and came right back to our spot given away, along with beach toys on the chair). Also, the rooms are a little odd, specifically the bathroom is an open design with no door, and the showers have see-thru glass doors, so there is no privacy with kids around.
