The resort is old and in disrepair and is not as advertised. The check in process was completely disorganized and it seemed as though they were trying to sell us some Prestige membership. Two women walked ...us all around instead of showing us to our rooms and told us not to talk to anyone else at the front desk, just them. It felt very uncomfortable. The complimentary drinks at arrival were nasty tasting, not sure what they were supposed to be. The pools are old and dirty as well as the beach chairs. Nothing has been taken care of. There are a few umbrellas but not enough to service the beach. The rooms are dated. We had 5 traveling in our family and the pull out was old and broken. The food is awful. Although they advertise gourmet food, there is 1 or 2 restaurants open a night and a buffet and the food is disgusting. We had a staff server say they would never eat the food there. It’s gross and not the many options they falsely advertise. The alcohol is another problem. It’s not top shelf and it’s watered down. The drinks were always awful. They often ran out of things like the fake Tito’s. The beach towels were hard to find and disgusting looking. The beach chairs and area were never cleaned up. The staff are not friendly and could care less about hospitality. At one point two of the house cleaners were screaming at each other. There are a lot of flies in the buffet area, called the Mahogany. It’s gross to have them flying all around you. They tried to charge $150 USD for a missing bracelet which was left behind in the Asian restaurant but when we went back it was missing. The bathrooms of the lobby were disgusting. Overall the place is a scam. We ate our meals out because the food was so bad. I’ve put in a complaint with management. They know it’s bad just not sure what they will do about it. Stay away from this place.

Dumpy resort with a beautiful beach...Trip Advisor is BLOCKED on resort wifi. That should tell you everything.

Azul Beach Resort Negril! Come for the beach! Stay for the...beach! This resort was a disappointment all around. Old buildings and rooms that are run down. Pillows, chairs and sheets all had stains. Fridge... had rust creeping up the front of it. Cabinet doors wouldn't shut. Old furniture. The TV in room was pretty bad too not that we used it at all. Well, we don't go to a resort on the beach for the rooms. What about the restaurants? Well for breakfast you can pick from the buffet and there are a couple spots to order coffee and teas. The buffet was extremely limited. Often opened late and even opening late not all options were available...which exacerbated the already limited selection. For lunch, you can do the Buffet, the spot near the lobby or the West End spot. Again, buffet, super limited choices. The place near the lobby served jerk chicken, jerk pork and stuff.. but calling that jerk chicken is an affront to the Jamaican people. It was basically baked chicken with a thin bbq sauce on it. The West End had burgers, quesadillas and honestly was okay. For dinner you can select from the buffet or one other restaurant depending on what was open that day. One night at the buffet, I'm 90% sure they got KFC chicken and cut the pieces in to smaller chunks and threw it in a warmer. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, but definitely odd. Most evenings only one other restaurant was open which wasn't what was advertised. The food we got was very simple and not great. The bars had limited options as well. All run down...one bar has a balled up rag to keep a fridge door shut. We had massages at the Spa which were great! We got a voucher for a free 30 minute massage and after they were done we had them go the full length of time. We got that voucher after sitting through a three-tiered sales pitch. Our personal concierge bugged us about joining it. We said no initially, then he came back and asked again why we said no. We were truthful and said we'd never be back but if it helps him out we'll join the presentation. The presentation was a rushed breakfast with a different sales person who gave us a tour of a room we "could" have if we bought a Prestige Membership package. Then at the end they brought in another sales person as the "Closer" or the money guy. He gave us a well rehearsed sales pitch. We got a $50 voucher for a taxi ride, the massage voucher, and $75 off a candle light dinner (which we didn't use.) The Karisma brand were dishonest about the type of resort we were booking so why would I give them another $7k for some shady promises of free trips and reduced rates in the future? The staff for the most part were okay. A lot of people just going through the motions and pretty indifferent to the guests. That being said there we some bright spots. Camille at our swimup bar was a sweetheart, Rush the lifeguard was a good guy. Kaydene the buffet hostess was very nice, Marion a waitress at the buffet was great as well. Without these staff members our stay would have had almost no redeeming qualities. The night time entertainment was slim to none. Best show was the Michael Jackson show. At one point my wife and I were walking back to our room and we were called over by a member of the Entertainment team where he then taught us how to play a Jamaican board game called Ludo. It was similar to Sorry here in the states. Some of the pieces we were using were rocks and bottle caps, as opposed to the actual pieces which encapsulates the whole vibe of this place. Then at the end of the game, he had me post a 5 star review on Google mentioning his name. So if you look up Google reviews for this place and you see a bunch of people calling out names, that's why. It definitely skews the rating system in a shady way. **THEN on top of that, Trip Advisor is blocked on their resort Wifi. Also super shady.** The beach and weather were beautiful, but Azul had very little to do with that. We even had conversations with complete strangers... no one wanted to openly bash the place but it inevitably came out. "So... what do you think of this place?" We would give them out opinion and not only would they agree, other strangers listening in would chime in also agreeing, with one lady saying "This is my 21st time in Jamaica, this is the worst resort of them all." The weather was great. the beach was great. And a lot of the guests were great, so we had a good time...it's too bad the resort was the worst part of the vacation in Negril.
