Super expensive for totally rubbish hotel. Don’t do it.

Well, where do you start?!? Ridiculously expensive for what is effectively a run down hotel with no investment for the last 20/30 years. Pictures on booking.com can’t have been taken in the last ten years. Breakfast paid for. No refund and ignored by the manager. Wanted $150 deposit on arrival?!? What hotel does this, this century? The total value of everything in the room was under $150! Room looked like a film set from 1972. Just old. Not in a “classic” way. No shower gel or hand soap. Two bottles of hand cream though?!? Towels were clean but about the same thickness as toilet paper and rougher than sandpaper. TV was present. No channels though. Has roof terrace. With tables on the photos. Of course, none in reality. Breakfast room looks lovely on the photos. Probably was in 1875. Now it is roped off. But it does have a vending machine to compensate. It says 4 star?? Who awarded these? This is a one star scam shop and the owners should be ashamed. But if you look, they are a company that buys hotels that go bust and reopens them. Sounds awesome. Anyway, whatever you do, do not book this place if you expected a decent hotel. I came to New York for a once in a lifetime experience. This hotel gives you one. Not in the right way.
Hotel 57 does not honour refunds
Stuart T on Nov 04, 2024
Booked 20+ rooms for a conference in New York, when it was owned by Wyndham. when we arrived, we were told the hotel had been taken over by LuxUrban. Breakfast no longer offered—although we had paid for this. We were initially promised 10 USD per night, per room. This was NOT honoured despite weeks of emailing — more than $600. Do NOT book this hotel—as other reviews say, they do not refund. I also wrote to their reservations service and their head office—no reply. Manager of the hotel was initially very friendly but also refused to honour the refund and stopped replying.
