9 Pros and 3 Cons - Great Time!

Kendra Ann M on Apr 18, 2025

There are a lot of great things about the Hard Rock All Inclusive in Punta Cana and there are a lot of things that could be improved. We are a family of 3 which made things easier at times (seating at the ...pools, getting seating for meals, etc.) Pros: 1. The concierge was exactly what I needed! Judith (aka Judy known throughout the resort) was so kind, helpful, caring, and was able to manage all of my requests. My family and I were lucky that she was the one taking care of us. I would highly recommend requesting Judy! (Also, as we checked out of the hotel, Judy managed everything for us. She made it so easy for us and I am so grateful for everything she did to help.) 2. Even at the height of spring break, it did not feel crowded. There are enough pools and activities to keep busy, without spending extra money. 3. The trolleys constantly run during the day and you don't even have to be at an official stop, they check in with you as you're walking the direction they are driving. Sometimes at night it was harder to get one, but having a walk after dinner was just what our family needed. If it rains, they have waterproof doors that can be rolled down so one rarely gets wet. 4. Los Gallos, Zen, and Torro had delicious food for dinner. The breakfast buffets at any of the locations were wonderful too. Be sure to try the fruits you never had before and the ones you're familiar with, they are next level delicious. We were never too hungry for lunch so we would just get something quick near the pools. 7. The room we stayed in was perfect! Comfortable bed, very large, our son enjoyed sleeping on the pullout couch, cute balcony with a tub, great ac to keep us cool, and clean! 8. This is a large resort, and also very manageable, we were in 4a which allowed us to be at the center of the resort near the three largest pools and the beach. It was a great location! Yet, bring shoes that you have already broken in or else you'll go to the shops to buy new slides, like we did. 9. The majority of the people that work there are so friendly. If you try to speak Spanish, they appreciate it and encourage you to keep going. I know only a little and it was so much fun to practice. Cons: 1. The sales pitch was intense. I said "no" multiple times because they asked me to commit before I had even experienced any time at the resort. I spoke to about four different people, all trying to sell me the same thing, but in different quantities/amounts. It still took almost 2 hours of my time and I was given two massages and $1500 in resort credit. I never used the massages because I wanted to enjoy the weather (so that's on me) and the resort credit was never added to my account. My husband was so annoyed and he has the patience of a saint. 2. Our vacation package included $200 in resort credits every day, but again, no credits were on my account. 3. Before arriving, I upgraded to "rock royalty but when I checked in, no one could tell me what the upgrade actually meant. It wasn't until day 2 when I went to the concierge to figure this out. That's when Judy stepped in and took care of everything. But if you don't ask about it, you may not get what you paid for. If you can manage your expectations and go with the flow (and avoid the sales pitch), you can have a great time. Although I want to try different locations, I would absolutely go back to the Hard Rock at Punta Cana.

Welcome to paradise....perhaps not

hello281 (west midlands) on Apr 18, 2025

Arrived 5 days ago with my family for 10 nights and I am really sad to say that we are beyond dissapointed with this resort. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review but I feel that those contempla...ting coming here need to have an accurate account of what it is like before spending such a significant amount of money. The doorman greeted us with a jovial 'Welcome to paradise'. Deception. The check in process involved queueing for around 45 minutes. Immediately after which we were accosted by someone who held themselves out to be our personal concierge. But in actual fact he was attempting to lure us to a timeshare meeting. He attempted to take us to the buffet after a 10 hour flight when we repeated said we would rather just go to the room to rest. We requested to be located close to our friends who checked in at the same time, but that request was completely ignored on arrival. The resort is huge with a large strip of water and greenery but 90% of the land is not accessible to guests; there are no terraces to sit on amongst the grounds. There is nowhere to sit after dinner for drinks and if you are hoping to have conversation, forget it, the music blasts out of every corner of this resort, at all times of the day. The gym at 6am was the only time I could hear myself think and all pleasure derived from that was temporary. Our room was in block 7. The walk back to the main building was c.1000 steps which makes going to the main building for food or even just a coffee or ice cream a real chore. The corridors are dark and filthy. The floors are slippery due to rain but not dried in a timely manner with limited hazard signs up. There are carts that take you around the hotel but not to each specific block. Attempting to take a gentle walk to the pools or beach area is impossible without being on guard of the carts driving up behind you or towards you. A hazard with children in toe. The room is spacious but the detail isn't what you expect of a 5 star resort. Our shampoo, conditioner and shower gel is and has been empty since we arrived, despite having requested for it to be refilled multiple times since arrival. The room hasn't been cleaned everyday in a timely manner and when it was, the standard was poor. The patio area is flooded from the rain, and there is no such thing as a decent view at this resort. Our ceiling has been leaking water due to heavy rain. The handyman came, disappeared for a day and then instead of offering us an upgrade to move we were offered a room on a floor lower down to ours with no recognition of the effort it takes to pack up a family, and unpack again in a different location. There is a surcharge for absolutely everything at this resort. Again, not what you expect from a resort that charges significantly more than other resorts of the same (or most probably, better) quality. Tips are expected for poor service and the staff couldn't be less attentive. Visit here if you are happy being treated with contempt as a number with the masses. The sunbeds are plastic and most are broken. Minimal parasols for shade. There are nowhere near enough beds on the beach. And there is no drinks service there either. Just another huge queue at the bar. The minimum wait for dinner at any restaurant is 1 hr 30 and thats at 6.30pm so god help you if you eat later than that. Even when you register to be on the wait list, they will prioritise people who show up and make a fuss. So prepare to be sidelined and have to pester regardless. You can't make reservations on the iPad in the room despite having the option to. It doesn't work. So time was spent sitting at a concierge desk to be told that there are only two that accept reservations if you have children. The two restaurants that have a surcharge are adults only. The staff at the kids club speak very little English. It's heaving at all times of the day and absolute carnage, zero organisation during the check in process which doesn't give you much comfort when you are handing your child over to their care. My daughter is 6 and has been to and enjoyed kids clubs at resorts all over the world. Except this one. There is one bar area for a hotel with thousands of rooms. And half of that doesn't have seating. The drinks are served in plastic cups throughout the resort. Understandable by the pool but inside in the main bar is not expected for a 5 star resort. We are currently contemplating paying to move to another resort for the remainder of our holiday at the cost of a further 2000 dollars to avoid having to return to work not having had a nice break. Never felt so despondent whilst on holiday, despite waking up each morning with optimism.
