Meliá Visited melia Punta Cana Beach this last week and would not recommend to my friends or family. The resort is so large you need to use golf carts to get around. They don’t have a set system for when the carts come around. Spent close to 15 minutes waiting for one twice and had the cart pass me by without explaining why. I do speak a little Spanish so this was very odd. I did notice that they stopped evertome for individuals of a different demographic. Even when the cart was visibly full they would stop to explain the cart was full. This made it even more weird to get passed up twice. They also need to have better training for people selling extra services. I purchased a cabana after proposing to my girlfriend. They didn’t even give me the bottle of champagne and I did not notice until I was signing the receipt. The young lady said she would give me a few hours on the cabana the following day and would bring the bottle of champagne in the morning when we requested. The next morning she acted like she forgot everything she told me and I ended up going back and forth with guest services for 10 mins to explain why I was in the cabana two days in a row. They finally brought the bottle and some plastic cups. Apparently you can’t get bottle service until 10 am, the young woman helping me did not know this. I didn’t receive any apology at all for the confusion. Overall I think management needs to do a better job at training employees. I’ve been to several all inclusive resorts and have never had this type of experience. Even making a purchase at the gift shop was a headache. The young lady was very nice , but she didn’t seem to have much experience with entering the items. All you have to do is scan the items for check out. Took close to 10 mins just to buy a t shirt and a couple magnets. Would have left the items but we really wanted souvenirs since we got engaged. My engagement went well thankfully. Thanks to the few employees who helped make it memorable. If you visit this resort prepare to be hounded the entire time you eat by people trying to sell you items that may not be what they were advertised as. Again , would not recommend and definitely wish I would have went elsewhere for my proposal.

What an amazing holiday, Wasn’t sure what to expect after seeing a few negative comments of people who must have nothing better to do but moan but we needn’t have worried, The hotel and grounds were immaculate and the staff were so friendly, The pool was stunning and no complaints about the food or drink at all. Could not have wished for a better holiday. We upgraded to the LEVEL and that made it just all that more special. We were looked after by our concierge Eddie Solution, Nothing was a trouble for Eddie and he kept us upto date with everything that was going on in the hotel to ensure we never missed out. He recommended and booked out restaurants and was always making sure we were ok. Could not thank him enough. Also if anyone goes and eats in the Mar de Sal Mediterranean restaurant look out for Franklyn, so happy and friendly and just an absolute pleasure……Thank You Melia
