Coatis should be removed
JocelyneL45 (Ottawa, Canada) on Sep 21, 2024
Nice hotel - it would be great without coatis BUT the administration should do something to eliminate the coatis. I find these little animals to be aggressive and not clean – they jump on our chairs, rummage through our bags, and leave traces of feces and dirt on our towels and personal items. If I were a parent with young children (at the Grand Riviera Princess), I would be afraid that my children would come into contact with them. The beaches are very well maintained. The buildings have been repainted. Food is very good and varied. The specialty restaurants are excellent.
Deep tissue massage 10/10

The entire hotel is fantastic. The facilities, the food, the staff. I went for a deep tissue massage with Jennifer at the spa (80 minutes) one of the best massages I have ever had. I feel so relaxed. I would recommend this to anyone needing to feel even more relaxed.
Relaxing trip

Super friendly staff! Had a few problems with concierge booking restaurants. Carful as there is an up charge for certain amenities, that isn’t always clear. Spa was nice had a great treatment from Mario and Esmeralda. Beach is ok, staff works very hard to clean up the seaweed. The Gentleman (I didn’t get his name) who delivered our room services was incredibly happy and cheerful.
Needs refurbishment, staff very nice, could be a top end 5 star hotel again someday

I got the relaxed getaway I needed but I need to be objective about my stay, I’ll try and give a balanced review. The whole hotel really needs refurbishing, I think I’d be quite upset if I hadn’t got a last minute cheapish deal, there were a lot of issues with my room (see picture) such as a handle missing off drawers, cupboard doors chipped that wouldn’t shut, aged and delaminating mirrors, chipped bath surround, curtain ripped, the wall art damaged, the shower hose was rusty, the toilet flush kept jamming and the hairdryer kept tripping so I asked for a replacement which never happened, looking around the room, there was just too much that needed doing to hand over to maintenance and looking at the rest of the hotel I had doubts moving to another room would be any better, I wonder if it’s quite normal for this part of the world as it was my first visit to Mexico. The main buffet restaurant, reception and entertainment areas looked like the ceilings had suffered water damage that had been poorly repaired and just added to the aging look of the place. The pool lounger mattresses were almost always wet through (could have benefited with waterproof items) and some moldy, the pool areas were nice though, the beach area looked scruffy with aged and unloved loungers though they did clean the beach seaweed every morning and the bar and food area was nice The staff were great and the drinks were spot on but the buffet was always luke warm at best, though the selection of food was impressive, however, the 5 restaurants made up for this though delivering hot food on a simple, country themed menu such as Italian, French, Chinese etc. There’s a lot of wildlife here which I personally enjoyed but the animals messed in the corridors and pool areas which wasn’t always cleaned up straight away, if at all. I think that this place is suffering the usual post covid downturn, it needs some investment to get it back to its former glory, I’ve experienced other hotels that seem to struggle the same way, I’d love to have seen it in its heyday! I’d visit again, but only if a refurbishment had been done, three stars at best from my experience, I was glad to be back home which rarely happens for me. In finishing, I’d like to wish my best to all of the staff because they really were lovely to everyone and myself, always all smiles and couldn’t do enough for me while at the restaurants or bars, wishing you all the best success turning this hotel back around, call me when you’ve done it and I’ll happily come and spend time with you all again!
First time perspective!

First time here. Spent 10 days. Nice clean hotel food in both the buffet and restaurant excellent. Service well had some issues with getting beach towels and waited 2.5 hrs for exchange of beach towels. 8 hrs before they picked up our room service dishes after calling 3 times and in person talk. Cleaning staff for our room was amazing! Miguel one of the tour guides is Amazing. I highly recommend him when you’re booking anything very friendly and on point! Over all great vacation we had a blast and would come back again. People to ask for when here Artouro front desk, Isreal lobby, Miguel tour guide advisor!
