Never Again

Harryrumgotti on Aug 23, 2024

The Fairmont El San Juan is conveniently located near the airport, making it easily accessible. The staff at the hotel was exceptionally friendly and truly the highlight of my trip. The hotel also offers direct access to the beach, which is a major plus. However, I encountered several issues during my stay. The cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. Upon arrival, I noticed mold around the edges of the bathroom sink, dead bugs in the shower, and mold near the air vent. This was unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. The pool area was also overcrowded, and it seemed that many non-hotel guests were using the facilities, likely through day passes. This made it difficult to enjoy the amenities. Additionally, the dining options were quite limited, which was disappointing considering the price point of the stay. Another downside was the club located on the premises, which often had a line of teenagers gathering near the guest villas. This detracted from the peaceful ambiance, especially given the cost of over $3,000 for my stay. Unfortunately, this was my first and last time staying outside of the Marriott brand. The experience did not meet the standards I expected.

The hotel is run down and old, yet expensive

Mark L on Aug 22, 2024

The hotel is run down and old. Water coming down from the ceilings, the lobby, restaurants, and the casino being captured in buckets like an old shack. Run down furniture and worn down guest rooms that need renovations badly. Expensive as well despite no money being put back into the property. It could be a glorious tribute to the 1950's with class and historical nuances if renovated. Has potential but is very beaten up.
