Disappointing Hilton Experience

As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I’ve come to expect a certain standard of service and hospitality from Hilton properties. Unfortunately, Hilton Playa del Carmen fell short. At check-in, I was informed tha...t my reservation was only for one person, not two. When I asked to cancel so we could make other arrangements, the staff declined and offered no alternatives, leaving us with little choice but to stay. The situation was handled with little flexibility or empathy, which set the tone for the rest of the visit. While the location is excellent and within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, the on-property experience was underwhelming. The food and drinks included in the all-inclusive package were average at best, and both my partner and I became ill after dining at the buffet. We also heard similar feedback from other guests, raising concerns about food safety. When we requested a late checkout due to our illness, the request was denied without explanation, despite being a standard benefit for Gold members. Overall, the service felt impersonal and rigid. This was not the level of quality or care I associate with the Hilton brand. There are many other options in the area, and I would recommend considering those before booking here.
Our Second Visit to the Hilton Playa del Carmen

This was our second visit to the Hilton Playa del Carmen resort and the staff is one of the main reasons why both our stays were so enjoyable. An All-Inclusive adults only resort is a perfect choice for ou...r age group 55+; as an active couple that enjoys the lively pool atmosphere with events, games, water aerobics and evening entertainment from acrobatic performances or live music options. The wait staff at the pool and restaurants are very attentive to your needs. We know that gratuities are included in our stay but we always provided cash tips for the great service provided. Our favorite way to start our day was to have breakfast at Spice. Javier, Lucas, Lenin, Sergio and Victor always provided service above and beyond our expectations on a daily basis. Our Maria Petrona, Kalamata, Asiana and Barefoot restaurant dining options were excellent as always. Our suite was near the main pool and a reasonable walking distance to the lobby or restaurants. Our room was well attended to by the staff and cleaned daily. Unfortunately the beach was unusable due to the sargassum bloom with a horrible smell that happens this time of year and there were many weddings at the resort during Memorial Day weekend, but this did not disturb our time or enjoyment at the resort. We hope to return soon but we’re disappointed to hear the site is changing ownership to Hyatt in the upcoming months. I have been a loyal Hilton Honors Diamond and Gold member for over 25 years.
