Read the reviews, know the expectations, and go!!!

Hello! Sitting at home in my wonderful AC ?? writing my thoughts for others. I like having prior information as it helps with expectations. Knowing some of the reviews ahead of our trip allowed me to be... in the correct mindset. Is it a Dominican All-inclusive? No, and it doesn't claim to be. However, it is an amazing week of relaxation. Yes, the buildings and rooms are a little outdated. Some new furniture an updated bathroom, and maybe a ceiling fan would go a long way. Luckily, we have been to All-inclusive resorts before, so we kind of know what to do as there isn't much information given. So if it would happen to be your first visit to a resort, take in all the information from this page before arriving, as not much is given once there.... We were Sunclub. Yes, it was worth it for us. We wanted a nice quiet relaxating vacation and we got that with our room in building 8. Knowing going in, that building doesn't have an elevator, but the view is pretty amazing from the 3rd floor. We were always able to get chairs or a bed on the beach. Sometimes we had to move them to stay in the shade... Bring a book, snorkel gear, grab some great drinks from the wonderful bartender and enjoy the day! Entertainment? There isn't much, we only heard the live music at night at dinners. We did enjoy the parade and fireshow. Granted, again we basically stayed in the sunclub area, so we didn't really know what was going on at the main pool. The food. The buffet is fine. There could have more choices. However, it was never busy when we went, so I don't think they have a lot out as not many people partake in it. That is just my observation. The restaurants have decent plates just a limited menu. We usually ate late, so we never really had to wait for a table. Maybe 10 minutes for Italian one night. Below are a few inconveniences we experienced. 1. If they want us to use the app for everything, they need better wifi. I was always connected but that didn't mean I was getting data. Tip: cycle the wifi off and on before trying to get the app to load before making the Hibachi reservation. Once I learned that tip, the app would finally load for me. 2. Yes, we had AC. Yes, we slept fine the first night however after reading other comments, I asked for a fan. It made a big difference and then the room was more comfortable for us. 3. The 2nd day, we were locked out of our room for 4+ hours. We had just gotten back from the lunch grill and gift shop, and couldn't get into the room in bulidng 8. Instead of hiking back up to the front we put an order in the app. Never heard a thing! So after spending the day at the beach, we hiked back up to the front to get assistance. Luckily, I waited till she called maintenance and we followed him back, as he tried to go to the wrong room. 3. Our phone went dead after day 3. It was never fixed. So we couldn't order room service (again, not allowed on the app) and also, other small requests sent in like getting more coffee was never responded to. 4. Our shower water was bi-polar. We had hot water and cold water. We would keep the knob in the middle and during the course of a shower it would go from hot to cold. It was fine. We would step back till the correct temp would come back. 5. I did order room service one night after a long day in the sun. It arrive about 90 minutes later (However, I knew that going into ordering from other reviews). However, the next night, the same order showed up again. I felt bad for the lady as she hiked up the 3 flights of stairs, yet at that time we didn't even have a phone to order again! Then apparently the following night, a different order showed up! So, for those not receiving room service, it probably is getting sent to the wrong room! Did any of these things, really hinder my vacation... No... I would still say it was 4.5 out of 5 stars. Oh, during our visit, there were so few kids that when we did hear them, I had forgotten that it wasn't adults only....
No hot water for a week-this is NOT a Hyatt

We booked Sun Club deluxe ocean view. Nice room, but no hot water. None, whole building (Plover building). All week. Found out it was broken prior to our arrival, but they still put us into this room b...ecause they didn't have anywhere else. Wasn't fixed when we left. They finally offered to move us to another room 24 hours before we were leaving, which we didn't do since we didn't have time to pack, move, and settle in again. Food was OK in the Italian restaurant, horrible in the Grill. We were told this was a Hyatt, but when we complained to Hyatt about the stay, they informed us that the hotel is just "under their umbrella" and not owned by Hyatt. Either way, hotel was substandard for what we paid. There were plenty of other nice hotels in the area.
Hyatt Inclusive, Do Better
Love L on May 07, 2025
With the exception of two staff members at the Sun Club who assisted with my check-in and check-out, the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. To align with the Hyatt Inclusive brand standards, sign...ificant renovations and upgrades are necessary at this resort. It did not meet the standards I have experienced at other Hyatt properties.
Good, but needs a little work

PROS: The resort is nice, and has a great pool area and lagoon that is excellent for snorkeling. The divers on our trip were well taken care of by the dive shop. The dining options were good. CONS: staff ...are mostly unfriendly. The few that smiled or acted kindly towards us were not the norm! This was an all inclusive trip for our large group. I think they could have provided us with better information: such as the tipping expectations, and options for getting around the island. We gradually got this info over the week we were there, by asking the staff and looking online. Sunscape is not primarily a dive resort so they may not realize that dive resorts usually collect one big tip at the end of your stay, and distribute to their staff (and dive shop personnel are tipped separately, directly by the divers they’ve catered to all week). So our group was thinking this was how it would be. As a result many of the nice staff members we would have tipped at the restaurants and bars, went untipped. Later in the week we found out: if you want to tip someone directly, do it. The resort does not collect and distribute tips. It also took some doing to find out there was a $2 shuttle we could take into town. Once we found out we shared with other group members, some of whom were going to rent a car or take a tour just to get around.

This was one of the best hotel I've been so far. Clean beautiful, restaurants with different cuisine of your choice. Staff very very friendly. Entertainment every night. Hats of to Mr Nelson Braveheart. ... He won my heart with his live Entertainment. Drinks 10/10, the way they mixed their cocktails and beverages 10/10. I had a memorable relaxing time. Will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone else.
