If you are new to Sonesta Gainey Suites, you will like the place. Grounds pretty, close to shopping area with grocery store. Wonderful staff. They brought back their buffet breakfast. Have a very limited Happy Hour. However, if you had been prior quests prior 2021, you enjoyed the buffet breakfast and a 2 hour Happy hour with complimentary food changing everyday. Salads, pizza, tacos, meatball and barbeque sandwiches and other items. Since we enjoyed that for years and it is no longer we selected another place. Oh ya, a $25.00 a night resort fee

What a beautiful hotel! We had a very clean room with everything working. The staff was also very pleasant. The breakfast was extensive and very tasty. Egg, bacon, toast, bagels, fresh fruit, potatoes etc. Real glass plates, silverware not plastic. Nice stay

This was our second stay at Sonesta Gainey Ranch and unfortunately were disappointed. Our room was a bit shabbily maintained with the carpet peeling away from the wall, the curtain hem torn and a white stain on the tan couch. The overhead light in the shower/toilet room was out. We could overlook everything but the light since it made using the shower slightly unsafe. We wrote our request down, reviewed with the staff and asked for repair while we were gone for the day. When we returned 6 hours later, the light had not been repaired the desk had no record of the request. One of the most beautiful features of the property is the double sided fireplace between the breakfast area and the patio. Every morning I asked the desk staff if they could light it and every day I was given a difficult story why it wasn’t lit: engineering was off, the breakfast staff has the remote, or that the would have it lit right away. Never got to enjoy my coffee by the fire. Also, they kept linen bins in the halls near the rear exit to the building rather than in storage out of sight of guests. This would lead you to think that they have tons of linens; however, the linens one of our beds were stained and another torn. On top of that, the pool was consistently out of towels. Price was good but felt pretty mediocre.

Lovely pool area and comfortable beds. The low rating is due to the uninvited guest that appeared in the shower as I showered (German cockroach). I’m not sure if this is the norm for Phoenix but it was a rather terrifying experience for someone who isn’t used to them. Decent breakfast but the continental breakfast only included toast, bagels and pastries. Everything else e.g. fruit, oatmeal, cereal cost extra.

The staff at this property are incredibly nice and accommodating. Location is 5 miles from Old Town. There is a shopping center next to property with some restaurants and a grocery store. Pool area is nicer than the rooms with lots of seating options. Continental breakfast is basic but enough to have a small bite before exploring. The rooms are dark and not very inspiring. Feels a little cramped and claustrophobic. Bedroom doors open into the corner of the bed. If you have a cat allergy I wouldn't recommend staying here. A family member had an allergic reaction and we ended up leaving to go to another hotel. Not sure if this location attracts lot of people with pets or if ventilation/cleaning is not thorough.
