Great all around resort, entertainment and food met our expectations. Other guests however did not.

Great all around resort with many options for families, and assuming adults too but I can’t speak for the adults only section of the resort. Barcelo Maya Beach section has a nice mix of pool/playground pri...marily for toddlers up to 3 years old. With our kids (6&3y/o) we had to venture to the Tropical section of the resort, which was well worth the walk (albeit a longer one), just make sure you bring a stroller and/or wagon to make it easier for hauling all your pool stuff with you. There are beach buffets and bars in each section of the resort so you are never far from food or drinks. One of the only negatives would be that, at times it would take a while to get service from waiters upon seating (usually only at very busy times) While the service was good overall, some bar staff were not friendly at all and definitely don’t compare atmosphere to some other resorts we have been to. The resort is clean, safe and well maintained. There was no unruly behaviour or smell of pot, and so the resort itself has a high standard for its staff and guests. Unfortunately, as for another negative, it mainly has to do with the guests at the resort. While it might be only our luck and timing, the were instances where it was clear that some people at the resort lack basic respect and decency for the resort and other people (possibly a result of being one of the more economical options). Lavatories were treated like a high school bathroom left with feces in and around the toilets. People would skip the lineup at the bar with no respect for others that had already been waiting (maybe more of a reflection of the bar staff for not caring). While it isn’t specific to this resort, many beach chairs would be reserved by 7am with no chance at getting a spot by any of the pools. Again this is an issue at most resorts, the only complaint would be that most of these “reserved” chairs would be left empty almost all day. Again, a reflection of the guests more than the resort. But be prepared to lay on towels on the ground unless you bring your own beach chairs. None of these issues would prevent us from booking here again, but worth noting if you are looking for a more exquisite experience. We met some great staff and amazing people while at the resort, and so our overall experience was great. Some of our best meals we can remember were at the a la carte (Spanish & Italian). Buffets were overall great!
Amazing first time experience in Mexico

It was my first time in Mexico and the Barceló all-inclusive was absolutely perfect. I stayed at the Barcelo maya beach but you have access to the other neighbouring Barcelo’s. The main buffet had a good v...ariety, Guillermo & Sixto were the best waiters during our stay! The pool is wide as well as a designated area for kids. The beach is within a 5 minute walk. Many amenities included. Would definitely recommend!

Great weather. Quick check in. Clean and spacious room. Rooms easy to find. Paths are well lit at night. Hotel was extremely clean. No issues with Roaches Turtles or Iguanas. Lots of drinks in the room fri...dge. Comfortable bed. Nice little patio for drying clothes smoking or just relaxing. Big dining room where the buffet is located. Look for Jorge great dining room staff. Lots of food choices for all meals. Line ups are a bit lengthy so don’t arrive too late to eat. Staff work hard to keep you well hydrated with your favourite drinks. Condiments are hard to come by at times. Nice little walk to other hotels on the property. Lots of little shops in the Mall. Sports Bar open 24 hours nice food and snacks. Nice beach not much shade and limited chairs. Nice spot for eating by the beach. It’s a grill nice food choices and snacks. Ask for Dulce she is awesome. No issues with vendors. Nice pools again limited chairs get there early. All in all no complaints great little recharge vacation. If you choose to shop CC or Pesos. They don’t accept USD but the servers do accept USD for tips. The front desk will only accept Pesos or CC for additional payments.

This is a budget friendly resort and was good for what it is. Nothing is going to blow your socks off but the property is well maintained and you will have a nice time. The buffet food is very underwhelm...ing and was not replenished very well. The rooms were good and the AC worked great. The landscaping is gorgeous.
If you like good food go elsewhere

Getting a decent meal at the resort is near impossible. The buffet gets old fast and getting a reservation at a restaurant before 9pm is extremely. The restaurants can be mostly empty and they will not ta...ke walk-ins. If you like good food, go elsewhere. There are some good things about it but inability to get a decent meal at an all-inclusive resort is ridiculous. Even the restaurants are average at best.
