Hideaway Pool Workers for the Win!

Our experience was a 5 out of 5. We stayed at the hideaway from December 6 - December 14. We spent every day at the hideaway pool. Everyday we were greeted by Miguel, Christian and Carlos. They got us our chairs and towels. Miguel always made sure we were taken care of. Christian and Carlos also made sure we. To see people happy/smiling at their job is a great thing. It made us even happier to be here. This was my third time at this location. It is always great going back to a place and you are greeted by Miguel, Christian and Carlos making you feel back at home. Thank you Miguel, I look forward to seeing you again.
Worth the money

Overall, our trip was worth the money. Accommodations - I will say, if you are particular about room types, you might want to splurge for something better than the base package room. We opted for the room with a Jacuzzi on the balcony. Considering our room overlooked the employee smoking area and service road, we didn't use the balcony at all. We also ended up with two double beds, which was inconvenient (they don't allow you to specify a bed preference online and room types were randomly assigned at check-in BUT we also didn't ask for a specific room so that's on us). There was minimal drawer/storage space but the bathroom set-up worked well (toilet in its own room, walk in shower with two shower heads and two sinks in a large area and a Jacuzzi tub in the middle). Check In - The check-in process for the Hideaway guests was easy; however, they will not allow you in the rooms until after 3pm, so keep that in mind if you arrive on an early flight. They did allow us access to the buffet and other amenities while we waited. Food & Drink- The buffet was acceptable. Breakfast was definitely the best meal in the buffet. Lunch and dinner were repetitive but we always found something to eat. The Mexican and Italian restaurants were good, the steakhouse and sports bar were mediocre and the seafood place was good with exceptional wait staff. The food trucks were also pretty good for snacks. We found that the mixed drinks in the restaurants were exponentially better than any mixed drinks in the bars. The coffee shop was good for specialty type coffees and the little dessert/gelato place was always good. Make reservations for the specialty restaurants ASAP as they fill up quickly. A few additional things we encountered... If you are going for a quiet, relaxing stay, I was surprised that the adults only side was NOISY, much more so than the kid pools. There was always music and yelling happening at the adult pools, well into the evening. We were regularly woken up by people in the hallways and room service items being put outside. The shows and nightly entertainment started late, usually 9pm or later. They closed one of the pools to accommodate this nightly as the stage is right on the pool. There were many pools to choose from, so that was a benefit. Hideaway had a dedicated beach area, which was nice; however, get your chair early and don't leave. The spaces fill up quickly. Same with the beach towels, get one in the morning and keep it all day (it will be almost impossible to get one mid-day). I can't imagine how it would be in the height of the season. The sales pitch is NOT worth it, no matter what free things they promise. They said the sales pitch would take 90 minutes and we were still there after 2.5 hours. They were polite, didn't push when we declined and we did receive the free massages as a result of sitting through the presentation but we lost a half day of beach time. Ultimately, we felt the resort was worth the money we spent and would go back if the price was right. We will likely check out other Royalton resorts in other areas - they told us the Cancun resort is the oldest in the hotel grouping and they are working on renovating the property now (there was construction in several different areas). I'm a bargain hunter and we found this package on super-sale so we were happy.
