BEWARE!!!!!! Don’t make the same mistake and book here!

I honestly had high expectations based on the photos and other reviews, but my stay at Barceló Maya Caribe was beyond disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were rude and made us f...eel like we were bothering them by checking in. The food at the buffet was another huge letdown. It was the same bland dishes every single day — cold, flavorless, and definitely not fresh. Trying to get a reservation at the restaurants was a nightmare too; everything was “full” even though half the tables were empty. Worst part? The service. Staff at the bars and restaurants seemed completely uninterested in helping guests unless you were handing out big tips constantly. Even basic drinks took forever, and multiple times our orders were completely wrong. For what we paid, this was absolutely not worth it. Would not stay again, and honestly, I would warn anyone considering this place to rethink it. When we talked to manager Carlos Lopez he was unprofessional, and very aggressive. BEWARE!!!!!

Horrible Experience – Worst Management I Have Ever Encountered

Warning to Future Guests: Unprofessional and Dishonest Management at This Resort (Ernesto Wong Placers & Juan Carlos Lopez Gabriel) As an experienced traveler who has visited countless hotels and resorts ...across the world, I can confidently say that my experience at this resort was among the worst I have ever endured. The behavior of the management—specifically Ernesto Wong Placers and Juan Carlos Lopez Gabriel—was not only shockingly unprofessional but downright dishonest and insulting. During my six-night stay, I was repeatedly disturbed by a loud party taking place directly on the resort property. Despite calling the front desk at 4:00 AM, no action was taken. When I personally approached the security staff at 4:30 AM, they refused to intervene and had the audacity to laugh and mock my concerns as I walked away. This behavior alone was inexcusable. The noise and disruption continued for four consecutive nights, each time accompanied by hollow assurances from the staff that it would be addressed. It never was. On the fifth day, I demanded to speak with a manager. Ernesto Wong Placers finally spoke with me but showed a complete lack of professionalism, responding dismissively with, “What do you want me to do about it?” When I requested contact information for the General Manager, I was stonewalled for hours. Only after persistent demands did they provide information, which turned out to be another blatant lie. Instead of giving me the General Manager’s details, I was given the contact for Juan Carlos Lopez Gabriel, an assistant—not the person in charge. The level of deception and disregard for guests shown by both Ernesto Wong Placers and Juan Carlos Lopez Gabriel is appalling. Their willingness to lie, their refusal to take responsibility, and their disrespect for guests’ basic rights should be a serious red flag to anyone considering this resort. I strongly urge future travelers to think twice before booking here. A beautiful property means nothing when the people running it are willing to lie to your face and treat you with such disrespect. Choose another place where honesty and professionalism are still valued.

They have some things to figure out definitely not changing your booking from one resort to another especially without notice

If you like terrible food, no restaurant reservations, waking up at 5am just to secure pool/beach chairs, zombie staff, cheap drinks, drunk Frenchmen puking in the pool you are standing in, long lines for ...everything and the worst pizza in the galaxy, then this is the place for you!
